Zen Perks: Empowering Our Team for Greater Impact and Wellbeing

Updated: May 31

We believe in caring for our essentials - our incredible Team Zen-bers.

Understanding that great work stems from well-being, we empower our team with the tools they need to maintain balance and vitality. This #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek, we're reflecting on the importance of wellness in the workplace.

We frequently shout about our #Zenperks; four-day workweeks, access to Gympass, regular massages, and volunteer days.

But, even giving back and impacting the world also brings positive cognitive benefits. 🌎

The psychological benefits of giving back

Engaging in charitable activities and giving back to the community doesn’t just help those on the receiving end; it also boosts the mental health of those who give.

Studies have consistently shown that engaging in acts of kindness and supporting others can significantly enhance mental well-being, reduce stress, and even increase lifespan.

At Zen Fundraising, we extend this philosophy to our internal operations, ensuring that our team members feel supported and valued in their professional roles and in their personal well-being.

Gympass:

We were thrilled to introduce our partnership with Gympass recently. Our commitment to the holistic well-being of our team means that when our team are out there changing the world, they receive recognition and praise for their resilience and passion.

Gympass provides:

  • Unlimited gym access: daily entry to various local gyms, accommodating all workout preferences.

  • Classes and personal training: online and in-person fitness and personal training sessions.

  • Mental health support: access to leading wellness apps like Calm and Headspace for mental health support and mindfulness practices.

  • Nutritional and health tracking: integrating apps like MyFitnessPal and Strava to track nutritional intake and physical activity.

  • Therapy sessions: opportunities to engage with professional therapists and counsellors to support mental health.

A Zen gift - quarterly massages for mind and spirit All that change-making and working out must be awarded with a massage, right? A key feature of our #ZenPerks is the provision of quarterly massages for all team members. Regular massages have many benefits, including increased blood circulation, enhanced mental alertness, and improved productivity. As Orlaith from our team puts it...

Volunteer days: We believe in walking the talk. Beyond our daily operations, we encourage our team to engage directly with the community.

We encourage our team members to participate in various volunteer activities, from skydiving fundraisers to assisting at local homeless shelters. These experiences directly support those in need and enrich the lives of our team members, offering them new perspectives and deeper connections to the causes we support. Last year, Orlaith reached new heights for this fantastic cause, jumping from 15,000 feet and raising over £1000. 🪂

Fast-forward to this May. Orlaith and our HR Coordinator, Jodie, have taken on a 300-mile walk to support SOS Children's Villages.  Donate to their '300 Miles in May' challenge and help us support this amazing charity's vital work.

Participating in volunteer days is part of our ethos. We want our employees to make an impact and experience the joy of giving firsthand.

Additional travel and health benefits To ensure our team members' peace of mind, we cover regular eye tests, offer rail cards, and offer subsidised travel options that make commuting more affordable and convenient.

Sometimes, our team is required to travel or raise vital funds at private sites, festivals, or other locations. We want to ensure that everybody's journey is as Zen as possible.

Regular wellbeing checks: We understand that having great perks is just one piece of the puzzle. Regular welfare checks ensure that our team members truly benefit from these offerings.

At Zen, we take the well-being of our team seriously, which is why our HR Coordinator, Jodie, conducts regular welfare checks.

These caring conversations ensure that our team feels supported and valued.

Jodie shares, "In my welfare checks, I ensure our team members are not overworked and feel supported to maintain a healthy work-life balance.

''It's also a chance to demystify what HR is all about. I'm here to support the company but also to be a resource and advocate for our employees."

Jodie's interactions are crucial to Zen's supportive environment, where every team member knows they have someone to turn to.

We're committed to supporting our team every step of the way, every day.💚

Four day working week/Three Day Weekend! We believe in the power of balance. That’s why we offer all our team members a four-day workweek, aligning with our commitment to promoting happiness and well-being.

This approach enhances our team's work-life balance and boosts productivity and mental health. Studies have shown that employees working a compressed week report a 71% reduction in burnout and a 40% improvement in mental health due to decreased stress and increased personal time.

The shift allows for more family and leisure time and sharpens focus during work hours, leading to higher job satisfaction and efficiency.

Inspired by successful implementations like Microsoft Japan’s, where a temporary shift to a four-day week led to a 40% boost in productivity, we've seen similar positive impacts within our teams.

By adopting this model, we ensure that our employees enjoy a clearer division between their professional and personal lives, resulting a more dynamic and motivated workforce ready to make a difference.

The Zen Conclusion Companies with higher employee retention rates prioritise a positive work culture, abundant growth opportunities, and a focus on workplace wellbeing.

If you're seeking an environment that fosters growth, values your development, and empowers you to make a positive impact, Zen Fundraising is the place for you.

We remain committed to ensuring every team member is healthy, happy, and empowered to make a difference.  After all, taking care of our team’s health means we can take care of the world—the Zen way.
